"I'm ready to go to India!"

"I'm ready to go to India!" I said in the kitchen wearing my fully loaded external frame backpack with one and a half days to go before the flight. Feeling centered, strong, energetic and excited I sit to finish up some last minute homework and sewing projects. Luckily it doesn't seem like I'm the only one who's waited until the last couple of weeks to get going on readings and blogs...

Navigating through the endless internet processes and paperwork can be challenging when your on winter break... Especially with all the good cross country skiing and skating conditions. After skiing everyday for about a week with my partner it's finally time for school. He's back in Boston and I'm sitting next to a pile of packed luggage, tying up loose ends. The sunrise was red this morning. Tomorrow is the day: the flight. Tonight my family will come by for some "sweets and hugs" or 'goodbyes' and dessert. Their support will carry me through this experience. It pointless to contemplate the future- as a Tibetan Buddhist, Gyalse Rinpoche says, "Planning for the future is like going fishing in a dry gulch; Nothing is ever works out as you wanted, so give up your schemes and ambitions. If you've got to think about something- make it the uncertainty of the hour of your death..." Everything changes from moment to moment and so when people ask, "Are you excited? Are you ready?" I say "No. I'm not there yet!" I have no reference point for this experience and going into the unknown is more interesting then speculations. My awareness is in each moment.
